Kid’s Crafts for the Holidays
Yule inspired crafts and gift ideas for loved ones. On a budget or just want to spend time and not money with your kids this season.
Here’s some ideas for the season:
- Letters to Santa
- Bake bread
- Pony bead bracelets
- Coloring pages
- String popcorn on thread
- Play a board game
- Letters to Santa – This is a fun and practical activity for the kids. It helps you get ideas for gifts for later. The best part is they will practice their handwriting.
- Bake bread

The best smell next to cookies is fresh baked bread out of the oven. The kids will spend plenty of time rolling and playing with bread dough. In the meantime, you mix another batch to actually bake. My favorite recipe is this pizza dough recipe from Sugar Spun Run.
3. Pony Bead bracelets – These are easy and versatile. A mix bag of beads and a length of stretchy cord will go along way. If you feel really inspired you can make animals too.
4. Coloring pages – Coloring is relaxing and calming. The kids love to color and will enjoy the activity more if you are doing it alongside them.

5. String Popcorn on thread – A traditional decoration that is fun and easy. Pop fresh popcorn and leave it without toppings. I make it with a counter-top appliance and pour it into a paper bag. String a couple feet of thread on a needle. Thread the needle though the popcorn and use for decoration.
6. Play a board game – It doesn’t matter who wins (and who cheats). Some might not be able to follow the rules. There will be chaos. There are times when setting up the game took more time than the kids played the game. At least the electronics are off.

Have a great holiday season. What are your traditional activities?
